This northwestern kingdom of Africa is known for its legendary culture, language, cuisine and attractions. A former French protectorate, Morocco is the fifth most economically active country in Africa. There is a lot to see, hear, taste and do in Morocco, and none of this is limited to the kasbahs.
1.) Ait Benhaddou
This kasbah, or fortress of the desert, is located in the Draa Valley. The kasbahs were originally built to protect the population from marauders and invaders who wanted to conquer the region. If Ait Benhaddou seems familiar to you, it is probably because it has been presented as the backdrop for several Hollywood films.
2.) Hiking
The varied terrain of Morocco offers many opportunities for hikers who wish to see the natural wonders of the country on foot. Different types of excursions are available, from tailor-made excursions to excursions organized with the Moroccan National Tourist Office, including horse riding in the Atlas Mountains. Overnight camping trips are also expected, with a guide and mules. So prepare your camping gear if it is on your itinerary.
3.) Swimming
Swimming, diving and swimming activities are available in several cities. These include El Jadida, Agadir, Safi and Essaouira. To the north, the Mediterranean coast offers seaside resorts like Cabonegro, where swimming and diving facilities are widely developed, taking advantage of the annual influx of tourists and visitors.
4.) The Atlas Mountains
The Moroccan mountain ranges are vast and offer possibilities for practicing several types of recreational activities. These activities include biking, nature hiking and bird watching. Whitewater rafting is also served by mountain rivers and is a fun way to spend a day with your loved one.
5.) Sahara
Much of Morocco is in the Sahara, the largest sandy desert in the world. As such, tourists have two possibilities when they visit the Sahara Desert. They can both experiment on a camel and explore the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert at the same time, which is surely a wonderful opportunity.
6.) Jebel Toubkal
The climbs of this 4,000-meter summit, the highest in North Africa, attract tourists. The excursions generally start at Imlil, at the foot of the mountain. Guides are essential if you wish to participate in this trip and rest areas are available along the way for necessary breaks.
7.) skiing
Although the Sahara lies within its borders, Morocco also offers skiing activities in the Atlas Mountains. Skiing is available in Ouikaiden, Mischliffen, Mont Tidiquin and Ifrane. Ski in the morning and sleep in the desert at night, isn't that a great vacation?
8.) 4 × 4 towers
Visitors can also choose to explore the countryside with guided tours on all-terrain vehicles. These generally integrate Moroccan events such as festivals and have as destinations landmarks like gorges and dunes. You can also pretend that you are participating in the Paris-Dakar rally that crosses the country every year, and that is certainly something that any visitor would want to do.
9.) Shopping
No trip to Morocco is complete without at least a visit to a souk or a market. Souks abound in cities and the largest is located in Marrakech. You can buy everything from basketwork to a musical instrument, but don't expect a quick transaction because every purchase is a slow, sociable affair.
10.) Djemaa el Fna
This property in Marrakech is still alive. There's always something interesting going on here, whether it's acrobats, food vendors peddling their wares, or musicians playing. It is a spectacle not to be missed and a chance to live.
